Panama urges to reactivate the dialogue for the solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

As the last point of his official tour, the President of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela, visited his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmud Abás, in Ramallah, where he urged the restoration of a dialogue table to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

President Varela indicated that peace in the region should be promoted in a broader framework so far, with the participation of the international community and placing human rights and international law as a priority.

"Panama supports the negotiated solution, regarding the creation of two viable and independent states that coexist in harmony”, said President Varela.

Additionally, the President said that "to achieve peace there should be no differences in ideologies or religions. To avoid further loss of innocent lives, all countries must unite in this fight”.

For his part, the Palestinian Head of State, said that "Palestine welcomes Panama as a friendly country, we reiterate the importance of continuing meetings and communication at all levels between our countries; wishing your country and your people, prosperity and progress”.

President Varela said that this official visit is a clear message of the interest of the Government, to build close ties between our nations.

With this bilateral, President Varela ends tour. The delegation returns to Panama on 19 May 2018.
